A recent report argues that the Earth is getting fatter or rounder because of melting ice at the poles.(1) As we all know, if the Earth expands objects on the surface will grow further apart. It should be obvious, therefore, that if the Earth is expanding the teutonic plates will be also adjusting - moving further apart. Which is opposite to their normal motion.
